Formal chartering  took place at NSDU National Congress in Springfield, Illinois, on May 19, 2006, with a  roster of twelve organizing members and six charter members.  Illinois communities represented by our membership include:  Aurora, Braidwood, Chatham, Joliet, Lemont, Lockport, New Lenox, Naperville, Oswego, Peru, Plainfield, Shorewood, St. Charles and Wilmington.
The Col Frederick A. Bartleson Chapter (or Col. FAB for short) will meet four times a year at various locations for a variety of activities in keeping with the stated objectives of the National Society and the Col. Frederick A. Bartleson Chapter.
Events scheduled for 2009:
          January 31, 2009 - Anniversary Luncheon, Lockport, Illinois
          May 15-16, 2009 - Annual NSDU National Congress, Elizabethtown, Kentucky
          May 24, 2009 - Wreath Laying, Oakwood Cemetery, Joliet, Illinois (Luncheon to follow)
