    The funeral of John Loeffler, Sr., was held from his late home, 1300 East Washington street, yesterday morning.  The funeral services were held at St. John’s Catholic church at 9 o’clock, the Rev. Father Adolph officiating. The burial was in St. John’s German Catholic cemetery, where the services were conducted by the Rev. Father Eugene.  After the Catholic services, military services were conducted by Joseph McCloskey, commander, and John Wyss, chaplain of Bartleson Post of the G.A.R., of which Mr. Leoffler was a member.
    The pallbearers were all members of the G.A.R., and were: Ira L. Pettys, George Young, Charles Carter, John Barr, William Farnum and Philip Phayer.
      John Loeffler was 76 years old and a resident of Joliet since the Chicago fire.  He served during the civil war with Company G, Ninth Ohio, and was honorably discharged by President Lincoln.  In his younger days he was car inspector for the Chicago & Alton and Michigan Central railroads.  Of late years he had been retired.  He had been confined to his bed with paralysis for several months previous to his death last Monday.

OBITUARY
Loeffler – The Funeral of John Loeffler, Sr., 76 years old, who died at his home, 1300 East Washington street, Monday, was held from the home yesterday morning at 8:30 o’clock, and from St. John’s German Catholic church at 9 o’clock.  Burial was with church and military rites at St. John’s Germany Catholic cemetery.  He was a member of Bartleson Post G.A.R., and lived in Joliet for forty-five years.
