J.J. FLACK
One by one the old settlers are passing away, and in a few years the country in which those hardly pioneers sowed the germs of civilization will know the last of them no more.  Of the many who have “gone before” and the few who remain, none were better known in this community than John J. Flack, the subject of this brief sketch, who died at his residence on Collins street in this city at 8 o’clock last Monday evening.  The deceased was 80 years of age on the 10th day of May last, and settled in this county in the year 1845.  He was very eccentric in many respects but withal a man of large experience, indomitable energy and perserverence.  He was industrious and in most particulars a careful manager and succeeded in accumulating considerable property.  The funeral will take place from his late residence, at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon, the Rev. T.N. Glover officiating.
