After waiting for years for a special pension, Henry B. Abrams, 72, Civil war veteran and pioneer railroad employee died at his home 316 Mississippi avenue this morning, two days after the increase had been granted through the efforts of Congressman Ira C. Copley.
For twenty-seven years after the war Mr. Abrams was connected with the Alton  road until disabled by locomotor ataxia.  Since then he has been unable to work.  Through the provisions of the new invalid pension law, he was granted $30 a month, being one of two Joliet men eligible to receive this extra remuneration.
He enlisted in 1861 and served during the war.  He was a member of Bartleson post at the time of his death and was connected with the Masonic lodge.
He leaves a wife, three daughters, Mrs. Mable Plumb, Chicago; Mrs. Sadie Barrett, Joliet; Mrs. Myra Reynolds, Chicago; and one son, Harry Abrams, of Joliet.
Mr. Abrams was born and reared in Joliet and has resided at one address for forty years.  His widow is seriously ill.  Funeral arrangements will be made later.
